Zorro starring Richard Gutierrez - Episode 1: 03-23-2009

The story of Zorro began when Father Felipe was about to be executed by the Spanish authorities upon the orders of Governor General Luis Aragon. As Father Felipe was about to be beheaded, a man dressed in black suit and face hidden by a mask, appeared from nowhere and was able to rescue the priest from being executed. The story then goes back a little bit further, during the year 1840 when the Philippines were still under Spain’s colony. In the town of Angeles, a sumptuous banquet is held by the rich and influential Haciendero couple named, Don Roberto Pelaez and Doña Chiquita Pelaez from which the Governor General Luis Aragon was invited. The couple had a lone male heir named, Antonio Pelaez, a clumsy young lad who always lags behind in terms physical and mental skills to his cousin Ramon Pelaez – son of the town’s Commandant Capt. Horacio Pelaez -- Roberto’s older brother.

On the other hand, Lolita Pulido is a beautiful young woman, who also came from a rich family but his idealistic father, Don Carlos Pulido is always at odds with the Spanish Government that took almost all of their haciendas. The young Lolita is being groomed to marry Antonio and was being pursued by Lolita’s mother Doña Catlaina Pulido to save their family from poverty, acquire power and prestige.

Antonio and Ramon were like brothers ever since but the rift began when Captain Horacio Pelaez died and Ramon puts the blame on Antonio for causing his father’s death. To add up to his tragedy, Antonio made a shocking discovery that he is not a real son of Dona Chiquita and Don Roberto.
